Hawaiian Isles Tennis Play Tennis! Event

Hawaiian Isles Tennis Boys and Girls Club Hawaii

HONOLULU: July 22, 2009 – Visiting Tennis Pro, Minh Le and local Pro, Wei-Yu Su will meet and mingle with the 7-17 year old members of the Boys and Girls Club at the Spalding Club House from 11:30am to 1:00pm on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Sponsors will provide smaller rackets and foam balls for kids to play inside the gym on mini courts.

Minh Le, a touring pro from Vietnam, by way of Sacramento, CA, who lives and works in Japan, has found gold in partnering the past three years with local teaching pro Wei-Yu Su from Taiwan. The duo has won the Blue Moon Men’s Night Doubles Tournament held every summer for the past three years in a row. The shorter and more explosive Le exhibits incredible reflexes and athleticism in contrast to the very tall, powerful and fluid Su. Together they have been competitively unstoppable with character and personalities worthy of inspiring the young kids at the Boys and Girls Club who will be able to interact and meet them in person.

The Play Tennis! Program will be MC'ed and lead by #1 Ranked in Hawaii Women’s Open Division, Leilani Magee. Pros Minh and Wei Yu will demonstrate their mastery of skills on the court before the young participants transition into perhaps many of their first experiences with tennis. The oversize foam balls and smaller-sized rackets enable quick and fun pick up of the basic skills and dynamics of the sport.

The partnership of Talent HR Solutions, Boys and Girls Club Hawaii and Hawaiian Isles Tennis may be the first tennis program of this size at the Spalding Club House, but certainly not the last opportunity to generate interest for tennis in young children. "We’re hoping to build relationships with other local organizations to give back to the kids in our community", says Sanjay Mirchandani, President of Talent HRTHRS, a locally owned and operated full service human resources administration firm on Oahu, provides cost effective packages for small and medium sized businesses. They offer payroll services, medical benefits, business insurances, workers compensation insurances and HR Consulting for hundred of local businesses. Boys and Girls Club, Athletic Program Director for Spalding House Location, Dixon Wong, is excited about this event and encourages families and other local businesses to get more involved to take ownership in their communities by doing humanitarian acts of kindness. He can be reached at 808-256-7890 for more information on events and volunteering, and donor opportunities. HIT principal Leilani Magee invites players, parents, community organizers, businesses, and anyone passionate about tennis and community to get in touch through www.HITennis.net.
